The goals of the lesson
The main goal of this lesson is to provide students with the breadth and perspectives of learning history. Given the very rapid development of the virtual world and electronics, teaching should be able to adapt to new forms of learning. The aim of this lesson is to provide students with an unforgettable experience of virtual travel and exploration, which they will pre-select when divided into groups. The lesson is dedicated to the whole class, and students will be divided into groups of 4. This type of lesson is especially designed for students with less motivation and interest in history, but also for those who are extremely motivated because it is an ideal opportunity to upgrade knowledge. The goal of this lesson will be achieved through 2 to 3 school hours because the lesson consists of an introductory part lasting 1 school hour and another part in which students travel through various world museums and explore (this part can be extended to another school hour by needs). Detailed goals: a. Memory of what has been learned (the student can present the topics he / she has learned about) b. Understanding what has been learned (student understands the idea of the lesson and can apply it) c. Applying skills (Student can and knows how to find what interests him and a museum that contains what interests him) Detailed objectives: we define the knowledge and skills to be achieved by a student in various aspects: a) Remembering the knowledge (the student knows ...) b) Understanding the knowledge (the student understands ...) c) Applying skills (student can ...)
Work methods and techniques
The teacher will be the leader of the whole lesson and will be in charge of: • Provision of work materials (1 laptop per group) • Divide students into groups of four • Introductory speech about the lesson for better understanding • Research assistance (directing students to the main Internet search engines where they can find museums) • Dynamics during the research; encouraging students to be curious • Schedule students to present what they have learned and ask questions • Conducting the final discussion and announcing the best research work
Course of lesson
The lesson lasts from 2 to 3 hours and is divided into three parts. The first part of the lesson lasts 45 minutes, the second part of the lesson lasts 1 hour and 30 minutes, and the last part of the lesson lasts 45 minutes. 1. The first part of the lesson: The teacher begins the lesson with an introductory story about the idea of a virtual trip to museums. Students are introduced to the idea of the whole lesson - they become researchers and prepare for the journey. After the teacher divides the students into groups, each group will have a minimum of 1 laptop, and students can also use their personal mobile phones. They have to come up with or find a historical theme that they would like to explore and find a museum or museums that deal with just that topic. The teacher assists and helps them find topics and museums through certain links and pages he has previously researched. After all groups get an idea of the topic or event they want to research and find a suitable museum for that topic, tasks are shared among students in the group. For example - one student is in charge of researching all the general information about the subjects / event. The second student is in charge of finding pictures and videos related to the topic, the third student edits a presentation or video with the obtained content (text, pictures, videos), the fourth student helps with the research and is responsible for the final presentation of the whole research. So the main goal is to get students to make their own mini museum by taking a little from each museum in the world and in this way they will be able to take their classmates through an unforgettable virtual walk through such a museum. 2. The second part of the lesson: The second part of the lesson begins with collecting information, data, images, videos from various pages of the museum and editing them in a presentation or, most preferably - make a small video work lasting up to a maximum of 15 minutes. Students are encouraged to record the text part of the video with their mobile phones, instead of the plain text of the narrator (one member of the group) and thus create a more interesting dynamics of the video. The main idea of the lesson is to intrigue students to explore as closely as possible the topic they are dealing with and to try to present it in the most interesting way to other students in the class. Mini videos can remain for future classes and generations to use and always be a source of learning, which is the added value of this lesson. 3. The third part of the lesson: The lesson ends with a presentation of videos or presentations. One student from the group is selected to present the results, if students want it, more students from the group can participate in the presentation. The presentation per group should not last longer than 15 minutes so that all students have time to present their work in 1 or 2 school hours, depending on the size of the class and the number of groups. After all the presentations are over, the students debate with the teacher which work was the best and announce the winner.
Evaluation
The evaluation will be of the oral type. The teacher will be in charge of the evaluation and will make a short evaluation debate at the end of the lesson in which they will examine the students how they liked the idea of the lesson, whether they think they learned something new, whether they are satisfied with the end result and repeat this lesson again. It will also take comments and suggestions to improve the lesson.
